From our small classes with very personal attention to our excellent, measurable academic results, our experienced, expert faculty and friendly, family centered environment is the ideal setting for an education that goes above and beyond.

St. Francis, a child and family centered school, provides a values, faith, and character-oriented education. First opening its doors to parish children in 1921, and as the only Catholic school in Herkimer County at present, St. Francis is a regional school welcoming families of all area Catholic parishes, as well as those of other faiths.

We help our students become involved by partnering with various organizations to provide services to the needy during the year. Such groups include Catholic Charities of Herkimer County, Mohawk Valley Refugee Center, American Red Cross, Herkimer County Hunger Coalition, Herkimer/Mohawk food pantries, Ronald MacDonald House, and United States troops serving abroad.

All of our students score highly on NYS standardized tests and we have a year-long mentoring program where sixth grade students work with our kindergarten children, providing the younger students with extra help while creating a unique bond between the two groups. We also offer Pre-K for two and three-year-olds, with a half or full day option available for four-year-olds.

Our school prayer tree provides faculty and students a place to post items such as petitions or prayers of thanks, allowing the entire school family the opportunity to be united in spirit on a daily basis. Family involvement is welcomed and encouraged as we aim to continue providing a safe, secure environment for all children.

Thanks to the generosity of anonymous donors, we are able to offer special educational programs at our school, allowing the entire student body to benefit, each at their own level. In addition, these donations provide busing to allow the children to take educational field trips that provide exposure to both academic areas as well as the arts. Busing is also available from local school districts.
